IT Lab Management evaluated the benefits and potential risks of implementing MacOS 8.5 and decided not to install the system upgrade during the academic year.The continued operation of computer classrooms and general access facilities is a primary concern. Installing system software often reveals incompatabilities or problems with existing software. The potential problems could cause considerable system wide down time in the computer rooms.
Lab Management will continue to test and evaluate MacOS 8.5 and other Apple system software releases for future upgrades. To minimize the impact on the academic community, major system upgrades are implemented during the summer months.
