New Online Video Reservation Process Implemented

New Film and Video Online Reservation Process Implemented for Faculty Use
A new online reservation request service was added to the UC Davis Online Film and Video Library Database (http://video.ucdavis.edu/) in January 2004. Faculty members typically search the online database to find topical video-based materials they can use for instruction. The new service will allow faculty to quickly fill out a reservation request form following a successful search for their video title. The request is sent directly to the Hart Media Distribution Lab (MDL) staff for processing. Once the reservation for the materials is complete, they or an assistant can pick up the video from the MDL (1101 Hart Hall) on the date requested to show in their class. Reservations can still be made by phone (752-2911).
In conjunction with the roll-out of this new service, data was reconciled on the 8,500 plus videos in the collection. Extensive work was completed to combine the internal MDL checkout database with the online searchable Video Library Database. In preparation, a complete physical inventory audit was performed, all video titles were standardized, and physical locations were updated for the collection. An additional process was added to update the online database on a nightly basis with any changes or additions that occur throughout the day.
