Interface overview

After startup, Remote Desktop opens to a main window.  The main window consists of four sections: the toolbar, the room list, the computer list, and the task list.

The toolbar running across the top of the window provides access to the most frequently used functions: Observe, Control, Share Screen, Lock and Unlock Screen.

The room list appearing along the left side of the screen shows the current room.

The computer list occupies the majority of the screen.  It gives access to all the stations in the classroom. It also lists the username, currently running application, and status of the station.

Station numbers are shown on the right of the computer name, not the column on the left.

All stations in the room are numbered and correspond to the numbers affixed to the upper corner of each student’s desk.

At the bottom of the main window is the task list, which displays recently performed tasks.

If you accidentally close the main Remote Desktop window, click on the Apple Remote Desktop icon in the Dock at the bottom of the screen and a new main window will open.
